FRÖJERED family is a sustainable alternative to traditional kitchen fronts.

Bamboo is actually a grass but is harvested and used as a wood. The great thing about this wood-like grass is that it can be grown in an environmentally sustainable way. It grows quickly and it provides a very high-quality material. Used in a thinner version of a sandwich construction results in a very lightweight yet stable construction which requires a minimal amount of materials. The core is made of 100% recycled paper and has a honeycomb-like structure. We think it’s quite an unbeatable combination.

Fröjered kitchen fronts for IKEA are the result of a long exploration process.

In 2018 we decided to go to China to get a closer look at bamboo – the most sustainable alternative for solid wood. We followed the entire process – from plantation to production and experimented with new construction and staining possibilities. Everything to shine a new light on this amazing, yet underrated material. The result – ultra light, super durable kitchen fronts, that were produced using minimal amount of this fast growing, sustainably harvested material, that deserves more appreciation.
