Plugless sink

The challenge was to create a product, which reduces the use of water, for the ecologically aware clientele. In the modern bathroom water is often seen as coming from the tap and disappearing in the plughole. As we cannot measure its quantity, we don’t know how much we actually use. We have also changed the way we wash our faces: no one fills the sink anymore, as the plughole has become the “dirty” element.
The project was inspired by an old fashioned jug and basin. When you open the tap water doesn’t disappear in the plughole, but gathers in the sink, showing how much you actually use. This object makes us aware of how much water we waste, and how much do we need, enabling us to use grey water again. You empty the basin by tilting it to the slot in the countertop.
